The vision of the National Arts Council (NAC) is to cultivate a thriving and enduring arts community that enhances lives by fostering the open and imaginative expression of South Africa's diverse cultures. By doing so, the NAC aims to serve as a driving force for social integration and play a part in shaping the ongoing evolution of a distinctive, multifaceted, and all-encompassing South African identity.
International bursaries are only granted when it's established that South African tertiary institutions do not offer the desired course or qualification. Consideration may also be given to applicants accepted at esteemed institutions. Postgraduate qualifications receive funding based on academic excellence.
Applicants must achieve a minimum of 65% to be eligible. In cases where tuition fees are covered from other sources, the funding may be redirected to cover accommodation, books, travel, and subsistence allowances.
The NAC offers two categories of local bursary funding:
Block institutional grants for undergraduate studies.
Studying towards an Undergraduate or Postgraduate qualification in one of the aforementioned fields of study
