The FNB Fund Bursary aims to provide access to tertiary education for academically capable but financially disadvantaged learners. This is a partial bursary that is administered by Study Trust.
Bursary description
Students must fall into one of the following fields of study: Commerce, Science or Engineering. Students majoring in the following fields are eligible for bursary support:

Requirements and eligibility
Applicants will need to:
demonstrate academic potential
demonstrate financial need
be South African citizens
be registered for undergraduate studies only (with the exception of Honours in Accounting)
be registered for full time studies
Please note:
There is a bias towards selecting female beneficiaries
There is a bias towards rural students and those from historically disadvantaged communities
The Fund intends to include people with a disability on the Programme
Applicants will not be excluded on the basis of race, gender or disability
Applicants who have completed their matric/ NSC more than two years prior to application will not be considered
Only applicants who have obtained the following marks in the June/ final examination of their Grade 12 year will be considered:
B Com/ B Business Science:
A minimum of 60% in Mathematics
A minimum of 60% in English
Engineering:
A minimum of 60% in Mathematics
A minimum of 60% in English
A minimum of 60% in Physical Science
BSc:
A minimum of 60% in Mathematics
A minimum of 60% in English
A minimum of 60% in Physical Science
How to apply
Once application forms are available, you can download and complete the application form.
It is important to include supporting documents - these must be certified.
You will need to include:
A copy of your mid-year/June examination results.
If you are not studying this year, send a copy of your latest exam results and a brief an explanation of what you are doing this year. This is important since the exam results play an important role in the selection process.
Matric/NSC results.
If you have completed matric/NSC, you can include your results with your latest tertiary (June) results. This is compulsory for all tertiary students.
Two testimonials.
One testimonial from a responsible educational official, e. g. your principal or lecturer and the other can be by a community e.g. political or spiritual leader. You can either use the testimonial forms in the application form or attach suitable testimonials.
Proof of salaries of parent(s), guardian or spouse (e.g. payslip, letter from employer, sworn statement or tax return statement).
A copy of your South African ID.
You will need to write an essay on your life.
There is a page included for you to do this. You may use additional pages if necessary. This must be written by you. Your parent, guardian or friend may write a letter of recommendation.
