Metacom Foundation

The Metacom Foundation is a South African non-profit organisation focused on creating opportunities for women from previously disadvantaged communities through education and skills development in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and related fields. In 2023, the Foundation introduced its bursary programme to assist financially disadvantaged women who are pursuing studies in ICT and aspire to become future leaders within the technology sector. The programme is designed to reduce financial barriers to higher education while opening pathways into a rapidly growing and increasingly important industry. Beyond financial support, the Metacom Foundation places emphasis on mentorship and personal development. By combining funding with guidance and leadership opportunities, the Foundation aims to help young women build the confidence, knowledge and skills needed to succeed professionally and make a meaningful contribution to their communities. Through its investment in education and female talent, the Metacom Foundation is helping to promote greater representation of women in South Africa’s ICT sector while supporting the development of the next generation of technology leaders.
