Bursary description
The National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) extends bursaries to students pursuing qualifications in metrology-related fields. Metrology, the science of measurement, plays a vital role across various industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and energy.
NMISA awards these bursaries to students with outstanding academic records who exhibit the potential for a successful career in metrology. Applicants must be South African citizens or permanent residents and must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at a recognized South African institution.
The bursary encompasses the coverage of tuition fees, accommodation, and a living allowance. Additionally, bursary recipients have the valuable opportunity to acquire practical experience through an internship at NMISA. This hands-on experience in metrology enhances the students' academic studies.
Upon graduation, bursary recipients are obliged to work at NMISA for a duration equivalent to the length of their bursary. This ensures that the investment in their education benefits both NMISA and the field of metrology in South Africa.
Requirements and eligibility
The minimum criteria applicants must meet, are as follows:
- South African citizen
- Academic merit/ high academic achiever
- In financial need
- Registered to study full-time in one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Registered to study at a recognised university in South Africa
