    Company description

Santam, the leading general insurer in South Africa with a market share of more than 22%, provides a diverse range of general insurance products and services in southern Africa and internationally through a network of 2,700 intermediaries and direct channels. The company serves more than 1 million policyholders, including individuals, commercial and specialist business owners, and institutions.

    Bursary description

Santam, South Africa's leading short-term insurance company and a top employer in 2019, celebrated its centenary in 2018. To mark this special occasion, Santam introduced a Skills Development Academy and initiated a new bursary program managed by StudyTrust.

Students selected for this prestigious full-cost bursary program will have the opportunity, upon graduation, to join the Santam graduate program. The goal is for these bursary and graduate program participants to ultimately become qualified as relationship managers and underwriters in the short-term insurance industry. If chosen, they will be required to work for Santam for the specified sponsorship period.

Santam and StudyTrust welcome applications from students who will be in their second, third, or final year of undergraduate studies, or those planning to pursue an Honours degree in the following study areas if they are interested in a career in the short-term insurance industry:

    • Insurance/Risk Management/Law
    • Mathematics/Statistics
    • Finance/Accounting/Economics
    • Chemical/Civil Engineering
    • Computer Science/Information Technology
    • Agriculture
    Requirements and eligibility

The Santam Bursary program exclusively accepts applications from South African citizens. The primary factors considered when choosing successful candidates include their academic promise and their enthusiasm for pursuing a career with Santam.

To be eligible, applicants must have maintained an average score of 65% or higher in their undergraduate degree and in their most recent examinations, which typically take place mid-year or in June.
