Bursary description
The Shoprite Group provides comprehensive bursaries to support students studying or planning to study in areas with scarce skills, such as food science, pharmacy, chartered accounting, logistics, information technology, and retail business management.
These bursaries cover tuition fees and on-campus accommodation costs and require work-back agreements to ensure job opportunities upon graduation.

Requirements and eligibility
The following are the qualification requirements for different bursary opportunities at Shoprite:
Accounting:
BCom Accounting or BAcc (CA stream)
Minimum 65% in Accounting, Taxation, and Auditing
65%+ Aggregate in 2nd to 4th academic year/Honours
South African citizen, 27 years old and younger
Food Service:
Diploma/Degree in Culinary Arts or related qualification in Hospitality Management/BSc Food Science
60%+ Aggregate in 2nd and 3rd academic year
South African citizen, 27 years old and younger
IT (Information Technology/Systems):
BSc/BCom majoring in Information Technology/Systems Analysis
Students in 4th year/Honours academic year
South African citizen, 27 years old and younger
IT (Data Science):
Degree or postgraduate qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operational
Research, Industrial Engineering & Quantitative Management (or similar quantitative degree)
Minimum 65% in Mathematics (from 2nd year of study)
60%+ Aggregate in 2nd to 4th academic year/Honours
South African citizen, 27 years old and younger
