About this Bursary

EMPLOYMENT AND BURSARY PROGRAMME FOR STUDENTS The Company has a programme to train students either at Universities, Universities of Technology and CETA Learnerships in order to ensure sufficient numbers of graduates and technicians for the company’s future needs. It is customary for potential bursary candidates to work for the company for at least a year after their matriculation from school in order to give candidates the opportunity to judge whether they enjoy this type of work and industry and also to give the Company an opportunity to assess the candidate. Thereafter, successful candidates will be sponsored to study Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Building Science at a University or University of Technology. This formal education is followed up by on the job training and mentorship under the supervision of skilled, trained and professional people. VAC WORK / EXPERIENTIAL TRAINING The Haw &Inglis Group offers vac work placements as well as experiential training in the following disciplines: • BUILDING • CIVIL ENGINEERING • MECHANICAL • SCHOLARSHIP BURSARIES Students from Grade 10, excelling in both Mathematics and Science, can apply to the Company for a bursary. The students must have an interest in the Civil and Building Construction Industry to be considered.

Eligibility Requirements

How do you get a bursary? • Bursaries are given to students who do really well in their studies and meet the university's requirements. • A group inside the company picks the students who will get the bursaries. • The money for the bursary goes straight to the college or university. Who can get a bursary? • Only people who want to study Civil Engineering, Building, or Mechanical Engineering at a recognized college or university in South Africa can get this bursary. • If you want to do a postgraduate degree like BTech, Honours, Masters, or a Doctorate, you can't get this bursary. What do you need to apply for a bursary? • If you're in Grade 12 and haven't started university yet, you need at least 60% or a "C" in Math and Physical Science on your high school diploma. • It's usual for you to work at the company for a year after high school to see if you like the construction industry, and for the company to see if you're a good fit. • If you're already in college, you need to have done really well in all your courses.
